Big Cat Youth Ambassadors Drew Goldie and Sebastian Byrnes are currently raising funds for the Train Tiger Rescue, with the aim of rescuing four Bengal tigers who were part of a travelling circus, and left abandoned in a train truck in Argentina.

MEET THE BIG CAT YOUTH AMBASSADORS

Drew Goldie and Sebastian Byrnes are 17-year-old matric pupils at Camps Bay High in Cape Town who have been advocating for the rights of big cats for the past six years.

The Big Cat Youth Ambassadors have raised over R78 000 with their Big Cat Youth Collection that consists of handmade lion soft toys for different ethical big cat sanctuaries across South Africa.

“We are helping to raise awareness for the plight of big cats in captivity in South Africa & worldwide,” according to the Big Cat Youth Ambassadors’ Instagram page.

TRAIN TIGER RESCUE

The pair are currently raising funds for the Train Tiger Rescue as they aimed to rescue four Bengal tigers that were abandoned in a train truck in Argentina. The tigers were part of a travelling circus.

According to Cape Town ETC, the Ubuntu Wildlife Sanctuary and The Wildlife Advocates Foundation have relocated the tigers and offered them a forever home at a sanctuary in South Africa.

The two matric students have auctioned off one of their hand-stitched tiger soft toys to help with the daily care and rehabilitation of the four tigers.

“This #ProudlySouthAfrican tiger has been lovingly stitched by hand. He is available for adoption on our Facebook page only & is raising awareness for the plight of 4 tigers living a life of hell trapped in train wagons in Argentina,” wrote the youth ambassadors on Instagram.

“We will be DONATING 100% of your adoption donation to #ubuntuwildlifesanctuary for the daily care & rehabilitation of the 4 tigers that will be relocating to South Africa,” they added.
