The world’s oldest person Francisca Susano has died at age 124!

Francisca Susano, the world’s oldest person died on Monday this week at the ripe old age of 124 years. Many have been truly saddened by her passing.

Francisca Susano, the world’s oldest person, died on 22 November this year after 124 years of life. The elderly woman was the last person on Earth who was born in the 19th century. The cause of her death has not been identified but reports say she had no symptoms of COVID-19.

The world’s oldest person has sadly died

The Guinness Book of World Records confirmed that they are gathering evidence to prove Francisca Susano’s age. The elderly woman who is affectionately known as “Lola Iska”, was believed to be 124 when she died.

This makes her the oldest person in the world. She is also the last person in the world to be born in the 19th century.

Daily Mail reports that the supercentenarian was born on 11 September 1897. At this time, the country was still ruled by Spain, and Queen Victoria was on the throne of Great Britain.

Unfortunately, before she could officially claim the title from Frenchwoman Jeanne Calment, who died in 1997 at the age of 122. Various reports reveal that her cause of death has not been found yet but she had shown no signs of COVID-19 before her passing.

A sad goodbye

Meanwhile, in a statement on Tuesday, the City of Kabankalan wrote:

“It is with sadness in our hearts that we received the news that our beloved Lola Francisca Susano passed away early this Monday evening November 22. Lola Iska is considered the oldest person in Negros Occidental and in the Philippines.

“Her official declaration as the oldest person in the world at 124 years old is currently [being] validated by the Guinness World Records. Mayor Pedro Zayco, Jr., Vice Mayor Raul Rivera and all city officials, as well as all the people of Kabankalan City, condoles and pray with the family of Lola Iska in their period of bereavement.

“Lola Iska will always remain as our inspiration and pride.”
