Watch: The Kiffness’ David Scott puts a COVID-19 spin on Toto’s ‘Africa’ [video]
David Scott of the electronic act The Kiffness recently shared his version of Toto’s ‘Africa’ in which he asks South Africans to stay at home amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The Kiffness’ David Scott recently released his own version of Toto’s Africa in the hopes of spreading awareness around social distancing amid the coronavirus outbreak. This comes after President Cyril Ramaphosa officially declared the coronavirus outbreak in South Africa a National State of Disaster a week ago and after stringent regulations have changed the daily lives of almost all citizens in an attempt to quell the spread of COVID-19.
The video which see’s the artist on three different screens, was released on Sunday, 22 March 2020 and clocked in views in record time. Up to now, the video has been watched over 500 000 times on Facebook alone.
“Please stay at home South Africa,” Scott posted along with the hashtag #FlattenTheCurve.
In the song, he sings:
“A lonely oke goes jolling Friday night, as he grows restless longing for a betty to keep him company. He knows that he must do what’s right, but he ignores Cyril’s call for us to chill in quarantine.”
In the song, Scott references President Cyril Ramaphosa’s plea for citizens to change their behaviour amid the coronavirus outbreak in South Africa. The president asked that South Africans minimise physical contact with other people and to stay at home.

In a previous video, Scott shared a now-viral video of Ramaphosa doing the elbow greeting to The Knack’s 1979 debut single, My Sharona. In this case, My Corona.
