The DStv Delicious Internation

The DStv Delicious International Food & Music Festival 2017 brought the heat to Jo’burg

Joburgers were in for a treat this past weekend at one of the biggest Food and Music Festival.

The DStv Delicious Internation

The gloomy skies and rain showers didn’t dampen the mood of the delicious fans; they came in full numbers to enjoy the highly anticipated annual DStv Delicious Festival held at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in Midrand. The festival is a two-day event celebration of a variety of food, diverse culture and music.

The Delicious Festival had an amazing line-up of international and local artists, with big names such as the American rapper Common, ironic R&B singer Alexander O’Neal, legendary afro-beat Femi Kuti, to British duo Soul II Soul and Omar. The local artists also brought the house down and fans were happy to see DJ Black Coffee whom recently received an international music award in Ibiza, singer Thandiswa Mazwai, Sipho Hotstix Mabuse, HHP, TKZee and many more.

It is without a doubt why the festival is spread over two days. The large food market was a combination of local and international chefs. The attendees could grab a great meal from independent food stores, pop-up restaurants, gourmet dishes, best food trucks and a lot of celebrity chef’s marquees.

The Food factory was amongst the favourite where celebrity chef Andrew Atkinson took everyone on a culinary journey, and the Food Network theatre had Siba Mtongana, star host of Siba’s Table showing casing her mouth-watering dishes.

The festival was also child-friendly and had enough entertainment for the little ones to enjoy – from their favourite DStv cartoon characters to colouring zones, and PlayStation trailers.

The event caters for everyone and for those who wanted a more exclusive experience enjoyed the VIP Decadance Luxury Lounge with private viewing balconies and bespoke bar.

It was wonderful to see the festival empower local food entrepreneurs and suppliers, as they were given an opportunity to trade and sell locally manufactured cooking products.

A few rain showers delayed some performances however the energy never died down and once the skies cleared, everyone was ready to enjoy the event.

Each year the festival stages big artists with world class music and whilst we recover from this year’s delicious festival, we know next year it is definitely going to be an even greater DStv Delicious.
