Tableview cat rescued after accidentally being plastered in wall

Thankfully Gina the Cat showed no ill-effects from her two-day stay inside the wall and lived to tell the tale. Or meaw her tale, if you will.

A Tableview cat survived a harrowing couple of days after inadvertently being trapped inside of a wall. Thankfully, the poor cat lived to tell her tale but not before putting through her owners Sunell and Gerrit Moss through a stressful search.

The one-and-a-half-year-old Gina went missing shortly after the Moss family had plumbers at their home to fix a leaking pipe. As it happens, the plumbers had to make a hole in the wall to effect the repairs.

However, after the plumbers left their home, Gina was nowhere to be found. This was very unusual for Gina, who is something of a homebody, according to Gina.

“She was definitely a housebound cat. So, we usually find her either on the couch or definitely close in the area,” said Sunell.

The couple took to the internet, enlisting the help of the Tableview Pets Lost and Found to try and track down their lost family member. This would yield no results for reasons that would only become apparent later.

Sunnelle was distraught when, after two days, there was still no sign of Gina.

“My heart was broken. I was crying. I really wasn’t sleeping, and we really gave up hope,” said Sunelle.

In desperation, the couple tried one last time turning down anything that would make any noise in the house and tried calling their cat. To their surprise, Gerrit heard scratching coming from under the bathtub in the spare bedroom’s bathroom.

It turns out that the missing cat must have crawled into the hole made in the wall while the plumber repaired the leaky pipe and got stuck behind the wall when the workers closed up the hole in the wall.

Gerrit managed to break through the wall only to find the understandably distressed Gina staring back at them.

“He took out one of the bricks, and you would not believe, there she was, sitting in a crevice looking at us with these awestruck eyes,” said Sunelle.

Thankfully Gina showed no ill-effects from her two-day stay inside the wall and quickly was back to her normal self.

“She was fine. I picked her up and checked if she was ok and stroked her, and she was purring. I just cried with relief. I put her down, and she just went to go play with our other cat […] and ate some food and drank some water.” Sunelle told CapeTalk.
