Review

It should be noted that The Death Cure, like its predecessors, focuses on the women in the story, with Scodelario being lauded for her portrayal of Teresa. Salazar is described as “a welcome presence in what has been a heavily male-led franchise.”

Despite the complexity of the storyline, that sometimes distracts from the main characters’ mission, The Death Cure is the best in the trilogy by far. The movie is a bit redundant in places, but there are a few spectacular moments along the way.

The opening sequence is superbly filmed and starts with just enough kick-ass action to keep you glued to your seat. It almost makes up for the plot holes, longwindedness and other slight irritations.

One of the highlights of the film is also Thomas Brodie-Sangster’s portrayal of Newt. He received critical acclaim, and his story arc plays out beautifully. Book fans will approve.
