The who’s who of South Africa’s entertainment industry showed up in their finest to show support for Netflix’s first African Original series, ‘Queen Sono’, at its world premiere on Thursday 27 February.

Queen Sono is Netflix’s first script-to-screen Original commission from Africa. The show’s world premiere took place on Thursday, and was released on the streaming platform in 190 countries.
Other than the queen herself, Pearl Thusi, some of the cast members who made an appearance included Vuyo Dabula, Ma Abigail Kubeka, Chi Mhende, Kate Liquorish, Khathu Ramabulana, and Sechaba Morojele.
The six-part crime drama web television series was created by actor and comedian Kagiso Lediga, who directed the show along with Tebogo Malope.
It follows the story of South African spy who tackles criminal operations on the continent while dealing with crises in her personal life, including a very complex love triangle.
The Queen Sono red carpet was jam packed with South Africa’s top celebrities; from Cassper Nyovest, DJ Zinhle and Sjo Madjozi to Roxy Burger, Wayne Parnell and Alisha Baker.
Speaking to TheSouthAfrican.com, Pearl said the show would have a positive impact on the South African film and TV industry. As a mother of two, she was proud to be a part of production.

Queen Sono tells the story of a South African secret agent who spends her days looking to avenge the assasination of her freedom-fighting mother while protecting African citizens from the underworld of terrorism, Western pillage and corruption.
