CLEANEST AIRLINE IN AFRICA

Cleanliness is an important matter. When entering an aircraft and finding the cabin and seating to be unclean, one is left with a very bad impression.

Many airlines in fact, do not take cleanliness to heart. That said, South African Airways is flying the flag for the nation since it values cleanliness.

Speaking to Carla Da Silva, South African Airways’ General Manager for Global Sales and Marketing, on the sidelines of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Wings of Change Focus Africa Conference (WOCFA) on 2 July, Da Silva said that while the airline currently does not have the newest of aircraft in its fleet, it certainly has clean aircraft.

As well as being named Africa’s cleanest airline for 2024, it also ranked the third best airline in Africa, after Ethiopian Airlines and Royal Air Maroc.

The award is an achievement for the airline, which is in the process of rebuilding itself.

South African Airways says that this award reflects its unwavering commitment to providing its passengers with a pristine travel experience.

ADDITIONAL AIRCRAFT ON THE WAY

The airline has said that it will be growing its fleet and route network in the coming months.

Although South African Airways currently has a small fleet compared to what it had several years ago, the carrier is expanding its fleet.

The airline is set to ramp up its fleet by 30% in the next 18 months.

The additional aircraft will enable the carrier to get back to its core business of providing comfortable and reliable air services.

South African Airways is due to receive a number of Airbus A320 aircraft. These will be used to ramp up domestic and regional services.

The additional aircraft will join the airline’s fleet in stages.
