Award-winning actor, Israel Matseke-Zulu has released a statement on his social media accounts following his exit on Gomora, and reports that he was fired.

Zulu has been in the headlines this past week (20-24 November) since it was reported that he was too sick to carry on playing his villainous role, Don, on the popular show.

‘I NO LONGER USE A WHEELCHAIR’

The actor has refuted claims that he was fired from the show and recently told Daily Sun that he’s recovering at his home in Mpumalanga.

The publication reported last week that Zulu suffers from gangrene which made it impossible for him to shoot scenes.

Zulu says he’s thankful for the kind messages and prayers from fans and adds that they shouldn’t worry too much about him.

“I am recovering well at home and receiving the best medical attention.”

“I now use crutches to walk and no longer use a wheelchair, this is a sign that I am getting better.”

He adds that his family has been extremely supportive of his condition and believes their support is what made him recover smoothly.

The actor said he had gangrene on his right leg and was using a wheelchair on set as he was unable to shoot his last scene.

He recently tested for the conditions, he’s now in the clear but doesn’t know when he’ll be back on television.
