Seasoned actor, Israel Matseke Zulu, who plays the role of Don, on Mzansi Magic’s telenovela, Gomora, previously discussed his role, his other projects and working behind the scenes..

The actor returned to our screens several roles later as an annoying gangster who wreaks havoc in Gomora.

Viewers of Mzansi Magic’s telenovela, Gomora will bid farewell to his character tonight (18 November) when he gets shot.

Fan-favourite character, Mazet, played by Siphesihle Ndaba got shot last night (17 November) and will be paralysed for a while.

Though viewers have been counting down to his exit from the show, Zulu’s character will be dearly missed because he’s extremely talented and entertaining.

WHO WILL KILL HIM TONIGHT?

Don pulled out his second gun when Ntokozo (Ntobeko Shishi) knocked out his first gun out of his hands. Viewers predict either his son, Teddy, his rival Melusi or Ntokozo will shoot him tonight.

  • Teddy (Sicelo Buthelezi) is hiding a gun from his mother, Zodwa (Sannah Mchunu) and Gladys.
  • Melusi (Zolisa Xaluva) can read Don better than everyone because they’re long-term rivals.
  • Ntokozo might have better luck the second time around because he want to get Mazet to the hospital.
  • Fans neither Gladys (Thembi Seete) nor Zodwa will have the guts to kill him because they don’t have a violent past.

ZULU HAS ALWAYS BEEN A PART OF GOMORA

The talented actor told True Love Magazine that he was involved in the brainstorming phase and worked behind the scenes as a location scout for the show in season one.

“I am the one who found the school where they are acting and some other scenes because I’m based in Alexandra.”

“I was born and bred in Alex, and I still live there so they (the producers), thought of me when they thought of the concept,” he said.

Zulu also said that he knew he’d be offered the role and that he wasn’t surprised as it didn’t come as a surprise.

“I’ve known the producers since back in the day.”

“I knew that the role would come, just not as soon as people expected.”

Zulu says he struggled to play a father that had abandoned his kid as he’s never played such a role before.

He’s also been working on two other productions and a musical project that is still in the pipeline.

“There’s another series called Isiphindiselo that I will be part of.”

“I’ll also be working on music but there’s no solid project yet.”

He is still recording and will release music as a musician soon and might release his own film which he’s been working on for three years now.
