‘Housekeepers’, ‘Abomama’ creator Portia Gumede to shake up ‘Scandal!

Multi-talented writer, actress and showrunner Portia Gumede has joined the team of e.tv’s most-watched soapie, ‘Scandal!’.

Mzansi Magic’s Abomama and Housekeepers showrunner Portia Gumede has joined e.tv’s most-watched soapie Scandal!’s production team as a writer.

The news was announced by entertainment commentator Phil Mphela on his Twitter account on Tuesday 31 August.

Gumede has written and created numerous hit TV shows, such as Sokhulu and Partners, Home Affairs, Stokvel, and many more. 

She has appeared on Leon Schuster’s film Oh Schucks, I’m Gatvol and has also acted on several TV shows, such as Hard Copy, Izingane zoBaba, Going up Again and Backstage.

‘HOUSEKEEPERS’

Gumede was the showrunner for Mzansi Magic’s hit local drama series Housekeepers season one to three which was produced by Ochre Moving Pictures.

Housekeepers explored the lives and the drama of the rich as seen through the eyes of housekeeper Linda Ndlovu played by actress Thando Thabethe.

The show also starred Mangaliso Ngema as Peter Zwide, Zikhona Sodlaka as Boniswa Mzobe and many more actors.

‘Abomama’

Gumede is currently the showrunner for Mzansi Magic’s popular series Abomama which stars The River actress Nokuthula Ledwaba, Generations: The Legacy actress Khobonina Qubeka, Scandal! actress Joyce Skefu.

RECENT DEVELOPMENTS ON ‘SCANDAL!’

The show recently promoted their creative producer Grace Mahlaba as their head writer.

Mahlaba is a writer, producer, and legendary actress who is popularly known for her role as principal Ipeleng on e.tv’s canned soapie Backstage.

The soapie also announced the Mambas’ replacements (the Kubekas) starring former Generations actor Fana Mokoena, former Uzalo actress Sihle Ndaba and Gomora actor Robert Mpisi.
