South Africa is set to get its own version of Keeping up with the Kardashians when KwaMamkhize hits screens on Mzansi Magic on Thursday evening 9 January.

Similar to the American reality show, KwaMamkize follows the life of the Mpisane family which includes popular fitness model and ex-girlfriend to Kaizer Chiefs goalie Itulemeng Khune, Sbahle, and her brother Andile Mpisane.

Controversial businesswoman and tenderpreneur Shauwn Mpisane, who has been in and out of court for alleged tender fraud and tax evasion at the Durban municipality involving millions, features as the matriarch. Shauwn recently divorced her husband, Sbu, and is now using her maiden name, Mkhize, hence the show’s name, which translated from Zulu means ‘At the home of Mkhize’.

Airing on Mzansi Magic at 20:30 from January 9, a teaser has already been released and in it, Andile can be seen asking Sbahle about her ex-beau Khune. The former couple broke up at the beginning of last year, shortly after Sbahle came out of hospital. She had been in a car accident and was hospitalised for about five months in 2018.

Keeping up with the Mpisanes and Mkhizes

It looks like viewers can expect to see the lavish lives of the Mpisanes and Mkhizes with flashes of expensive German supercars and designer gear. In one segment, Shaun opens up about her divorce which she decided to get after finding out that Sbu had fathered several children out of wedlock.

Boity: Own Your Throne

Boity Thulo coined the phrase “Own Your Throne” a few years ago to motivate herself and her fans into living their best lives. Her reality show bearing the same quote appears to be a look into her busy schedule. Thulo is an actress, rapper, brand ambassador and travels regularly abroad for work.

Screen time for family and friends

Judging from a clip of the show, audiences can expect to see Thulo’s close family members like her outspoken and bubbly mom, Modieho Thulo, and her cousins and other relatives.

Thulo’s manager Bash also gets screen time which will be interesting to see as he has been credited with giving her brand an added boost, securing high-end deals, such as the brand ambassadorship for Moët & Chandon champagne.

Thulo’s Own Your Throne begins on 5 February on BET.

The Life of Kelly

Though the award-winning singer is keeping the details of her TV offering under wraps, it has been confirmed that The Life of Kelly will run on 1Magic in April.

Khumalo may opt to give those tuning in an insider perspective on her love life, career and family. She is yet to speak up about her failed marriage to rapper Chad da Don with whom she tied the knot in 2019.

Their romance lasted less than a year with Chad already moving on to another relationship and Khumalo focusing on promoting her new single, Undithathakancinci.

Of late, the star has made headlines over reports related to the father of her daughter and ex-lover, the late Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa. Khumalo has maintained her stance that there was a break-in on the night of Meyiwa’s death.

Maybe her show could shed some light on her perspective regarding the reports…
