Can you even with this couple? While a new book somewhat sensationally claims that Meghan Markle wanted to be “Diana 2.0”, these two are just so adorable.
While weddings are usually a good time to get people to buy you all the things you don’t want to splurge on yourself, Markle and Prince William have asked for donations to charities, according to reports.
Sure, being a royal probably means you can afford whatever you want, but you have to admire the gesture.
The couple has chosen seven charities and so that “as many people as possible benefit from this [public] generosity of spirit,” Kensington Palace said.
Prince William and Kate Middleton asked the public to donate to charity during their wedding, too and over £1 million was raised.
Guests can still bring gifts, of course, but a charitable donation is just so noble, don’t you think?
Kensington Palace said Prince Harry and Markle, who will marry in Windsor on 19 May, are “incredibly grateful for the goodwill shown to them”.
A spokesperson said:
“The couple has chosen charities which represent a range of issues that they are passionate about, including sport for social change, women’s empowerment, conservation, the environment, homelessness, HIV and the Armed Forces.
“Prince Harry and Ms Markle do not have any formal relationships with the charities chosen.”
Harry and Meghan have chosen seven different charities for people to make donations to.
