Roller skating is back in a big way. Hot on the heels of the exciting trend that’s making a huge comeback in the US, roller skating has hit Cape Town with a bang.

You can now lace up those skates and join the party at Rollercade, Cape Town’s first indoor roller-skating park.

Roller-skating park opens at V&A Waterfront

Located at Battery Park at the V&A Waterfront, Rollercade Cape Town opened its doors on Friday 11 December, just in time for the festive season.

This indoor park promises to offer loads of fun for the whole family. It features a state-of-the-art roller-skating rink, a games arcade, pool tables and a comfortable lounge area for relaxing.

Located on the P3 parking floor at the Battery Park entrance off Alfred or Dock Road Waterfront, the indoor skating rink is decorated with a retro disco vibe and belts out funky disco music to bring back memories of a bygone era.

Roller-skating sessions

Rollercade offers a variety of 2.5-hour sessions for all levels of roller skater. Each session costs R150 per person, and includes rental of skates and safety gear.

If you have your own skates, you can take them along and pay just R80 to use the rink — or pay R40 to enjoy all the other facilities in the park such as the arcade and pool tables.

There are three daily sessions and two extra slots, beginning from 10:00 and ending at 18:30 on weekdays, and 21:30 on Fridays and Saturdays.

COVID-19 measures for roller-skating fans

After every session the venue and items are sanitised. Visitors are required to wear a mask and socks throughout their skating session.

Daily session times are as follows:

10:00 to 12:30; 13:00 to 15:30; 16:00 to 18:30, and, Fridays and Saturdays only, 19:00 to 21:30.
