After Clarence House confirmed that Prince Charles is out of self-isolation after testing positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19) earlier this month, the heir to the British throne took to social media to share a special message during this difficult time.

The 71-year-old released a video message about the ‘strange, frustrating and distressing experience’ of contracting the coronavirus and how it can affect the older members of our society.

‘Very difficult and abnormal circumstances’

The Prince of Wales said:

“As we are all learning, this is a strange, frustrating and often distressing experience, when the presence of family and friends is no longer possible, and the normal structures of life are suddenly removed. At such an unprecedented and anxious time in all our lives, my wife and I are thinking particularly of all those who have lost their loved ones in such very difficult and abnormal circumstances, and those having to endure sickness, isolation and loneliness.”

He went on to say, though people of all ages are being affected by the virus, he is particularly concerned about the elderly, mentioning his patronage, Age UK and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla’s, Silver Line. It is reported that the elderly are particularly at risk when it comes to the coronavirus.

The prince also thanked NHS personnel and volunteers for doing what they can to help those in need during this difficult time before mentioning everyone in the essential services sector for going to work every day.

“None of us can say when this will end, but end it will until it does let us try and live with hope and with faith in ourselves and each other, look forward to better times to come.”

In ‘good health’

Before recording the message it was reported that Charles is in ‘good health’ and is operating under the current standard government and medical restrictions that apply across the UK. His self-isolation lasted seven days, in accordance with government and medical guidelines.
