Always wanted a beautiful portrait of your pet? What about a cuddly replica? A needle felt artist by the name of My Woolever Friend, is doing just that.

MAKING THE PET PORTRAITS

By using photographs sent in by the owners and a combination of wool and fur from the pet, she creates the most beautiful furry portraits. And they look too real to be true!

The artist shared on her TikTok account that many pet owners buy her creations as memorial pieces after losing their pets. The portraits can be made using wool or real fur sent in my the owners.

According to a video posted by GOODLAD, the portraits are crafted using a needle felt technique and 100% Australian sheep wool.

IT’S UNCANNY

The artist’s work is uncanny. See for yourself.

THE CREATIVE PROCESS

So how long does it take to complete such a creation you might ask?

For a mini it takes about 10 hours but larger pieces (as seen in the video above) can take up to 40 hours to create.

NOT EVERYONE IS A FAN

And yes, not everyone understands or appreciates this unique memorial idea. Comments on the artist’s TikTok videos include ‘That’s so creepy’, ‘That’s absolutely horrifying’ to ‘Omg I am going to have nightmares about these’.

But, My Woolever Friend is having none of that and is not afraid to take commenters on.

“Why? We just want to see their loving faces again. For a lot of people these little bundles of wool are just what they need,” she posted in a video.
