While opposition parties prepare for today’s impeachment vote in parliament, South Africans from across the board seem to have made up their minds already. Have a look.
Despite the slim chance of success, the Democratic Alliance will stand in front of the National Assembly — the very National Assembly that, according to a unanimous ruling by the ConCourt, flouted the constitution when setting aside the public protector’s Nkandla report in order to protect Zuma — as ask for the president to be impeached on the grounds that he deliberately and knowingly flouted his constitutional responsibilities as state president.
In all likelihood the National Assembly — of which an overwhelming majority of members are ANC and Zuma loyalists — will vote against impeachment; but that doesn’t really matter anyway. Folks on social media seem to have made up their minds already.
