Success has no age limit and when it comes to education, it’s never too late to go get it! Whether it be to improve yourself or seize an opportunity you never had before, Adult Matric programmes are here to offer you a second chance.

Available to anyone over the age of 21, Adult Matric provides an opportunity to attain your matric certificate if you were unable to before or you’re looking to make up a previous qualification. Provided you pass the programme, your matric qualification will grant you access to higher education institutions to further yourself and your studies, or upskill yourself to land that dream job.

When it comes to Adult Matric and standard high school matric, they’re the same in terms of curriculum and qualification. Both Adult Matric and high school matric are taught the South African CAPS curriculum and awarded a matric certificate once completed. Aside from having to be 21 years old or older to register for Adult Matric, the only real difference is the time period in which you complete it. As opposed to the one year you do in high school, Adult Matric is generally done in 2 years (24 months). Upon completion of Adult Matric, there are a few ways in which you can pass. Depending on the level of your pass, Bachelor’s Pass, Diploma Pass or Senior Certificate, you can either further your studies at degree level or diploma level.

Benefits of having a matric certificate

A matric certificate is a legal requirement when applying to study at any higher education institution in South Africa. Passing your matric allows you to further your studies in the field of your choice at tertiary level. When applying for job opportunities, the minimum requirement is generally having a matric certificate. You can use your matric certificate to gain experience at entry-level jobs and build yourself up in your work field.
