Netflix added a ton of new shows, films and documentaries for us to enjoy in October. Whether you like docu-series, horrors or romance, there is something for everyone. Here a few highlights for this month.

Netflix Original Series: The Haunting of Bly Manor’

The Haunting of Bly Manor is the next highly-anticipated chapter of The Haunting (of which The Haunting of Hill House was the first.) The second installment is set in 1980s England.

After an au pair’s tragic death, Henry Wingrave hires a young American nanny to care for his orphaned niece and nephew who reside at Bly Manor with the estate’s chef Owen, groundskeeper Jamie and housekeeper.

But all is not as it seems at the manor, and centuries of dark secrets of love and loss are waiting to be unearthed in this chilling gothic romance. At Bly Manor, dead doesn’t mean gone.

According to Radiotopia, Song Exploder was hosted by Thao Nguyen for a year, while Christian Koons served as producer, and Hrishikesh Hirway as executive producer. There are currently 177 episodes.

Shot in isolation, this tragicomic anthology series features both dark and funny takes on how people strive to stay connected while staying apart. It was created by Hilary Weisman Graham and Jenji Kohan.

The eight-part series, set during the beginning months of the COVID-19 pandemic, focuses on how families, friends, and couples were forced to cope with the effects of quarantine.
