Gospel artists, producers and several actors attended the 14th annual Crown Gospel Music Awards held at The Playhouse Theatre in Durban on Friday 12 November. The awards are set to be broadcast on SABC 2 on Sunday 28 November at 20:00 for gospel lovers to watch.

The Crown Gospel Music Awards were hosted by pastor and musician Khaya Mthethwa, who stole the show in a burgundy suit. As per The Citizen, the organisers of the awards praised the Idols SA season eight winner for handling the awards with “poise and refined mastery”.”
The Crown Gospel Music Awards’ founder Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule opened the awards with a heartfelt speech, thanking God for carrying over the awards for 14 years.
“Through the Crown Gospel Music Awards we have not only been able to celebrate artists but we created a platform where musicians can be recognised for their God-given talent.”
Gospel star Takie Ndou secured six nominations at this year’s Crown Gospel Music Awards and he took home the awards for Best Gospel Album for his fourth album The Great Revival and Best Gospel Songwriter for his song Who Am I. Ndou also won the award for Best Gospel Engineer.
Ndou took to Instagram to celebrate his three wins writing: “Thank you so much fam for your continuous support and prayers I am really humbled by this.”
Other big winners were Xolly Mncwango who won the award for Best Newcomer and Umlazi Gospel Choir who won the award for Best Gospel Group.

There are still four categories open for the Best Gospel Artist, Best Gospel Song, Best Gospel Community Radio, Best Amazion and Best Gospel Commercial/Pbs Radio Show awards. Fans can vote for all their favourites by sending an SMS to 34069.
