I AM HERE HEADLINERS

Bassline has put together an extraordinary list of artists to perform at their I AM HERE music festival. The legendary Thandiswa Mazwai, Zambian-born rapper Sampa the Great and South African hip-hop heavyweight Stogie T will take the stage.

They will be joined by Lesotho’s Morena Leraba, Eastern Cape-born rapper Laliboi, and R&B sensation Moonga K who released his new EP, CANDID on Friday 22 October.

MORE ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Thandiswa Mazwai, affectionately known as “King Tha” kicked off her music career in 1998 with the music group Bongo Maffin. After six albums with the group, she set out on a solo venture. Her single Ingoma still keeps South Africans rocking.

28-year-old Sampa the Great is described as the “African voice of Australian rap”. Her music has earned her several awards since 2017 including the Australian Music Prize for her 2019 album The Return

Stogie T has been in the SA hip-hop industry for over a decade. The rapper who recently signed to Def Jam Africa has won South Africans over with his well-thought-out lyricism and exceptional imagery.

Morena Leraba uses Sesotho lyrics and combines them with electronic music, while Laliboi fuses elements of jazz and old-school hip-hop in his music. Moonga K’s voice can certainly capture anyone. The Zambian-born artist fuses R&B, soul, and electro.
