AKA fans decode ‘Tears Run Dry’ cover and find lobola letter [photos]
After the release of AKA’s birthday tribute to his late fiancée Nelli, fans decoded the ‘Tears Run Dry’ cover and found a lobola negotiation letter the rapper may have sent to the Tembe family.

AKA released a heartfelt tribute to his late fiancée Anele “Nelli” Tembe on Monday 11 October on what would’ve been her 22nd birthday. The song titled Tears Run Dry sees the rapper narrate his relationship with Nelli. Some fans seem to have figured out that AKA may have used the lobola negotiation letter he sent to the Tembe family to creatively make the single cover.

FANS DECODE ‘TEARS RUN DRY’ ALBUM COVER
AKA often keeps his album and single covers simple and this one was no different. The 33-year-old rapper kept it even more simple with a white background and “Tears Run Dry” written in cursive.
In the song, AKA raps: “First thing on my mind when I wake up. I cannot feel sunshine with you not waking up by my side. Nothing else can replace us. Try to break down and cry but all my tears run dry.”
While most fans did not look beyond the simple cover, one fan seemed to have cracked a code and figured out that the Fela in Versace rapper may have used the back of his lobola negotiation letter to the Tembe family for the Tears Run Dry cover.
‘GROUP ASSIGNMENT’
Although he wasn’t able to crack the entire letter, the Twitter user managed to crack a few words with the help of other AKA fans.
“To Family Mthonga…”
“My name is Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, I am writing this letter…” “There is a very beautiful, exquisite and rare…”
Unfortunately, these fans could not make out the rest of the letter.

AKA AND NELLI’S LOBOLA NEGOTIATIONS
AKA visited Nelli’s family in Durban KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday 27 March for the lobola negotiations. The rapper shared pictures of the occasion on his Instagram but at that point, the couple had not announced their wedding date.
The couple’s fairytale was tragically cut short two weeks later when Nelli plunged to her death from the 10th floor of the Pepperclub Hotel in Cape Town.
