Two nights in London for folk

In collaboration show with Piers Faccini, Nibs van der Spuy will be performing two shows in London. Nibs says of Piers:

“I met Piers Faccini while attending the Pistoia blues festival in Italy in 2006. He was opening up for Ben Harper and what a revelation he was. With just a guitar, harmonica and the most exciting voice since Jeff Buckley, he held this Italian audience of 4000 strong in the palm of his hand. Since then as fate has it, we were both on the same bill at the Blues and Roots Festival in Byron Bay, Australia where are paths met again and a lifelong friendship began. We have toured South Africa together, I have played many a show in France with him and I have had the privilege of him playing on some of my albums, namely; ‘A Bird in the Hand’ and ‘A house across the river’. I am also featured on his highly acclaimed, ‘Two grains of sand album.’

This will be their first ever London show together.

Nibs will be performing songs from his latest anthology album, Crossing Borders, Driving North as well as songs from a new album he will be recording in December, which will be titled Natalia.

Crossing Borders, Driving North spans a creative and diverse body of work from his nine highly acclaimed solo albums.

His virtuosic acoustic guitar style and mesmeric whispering voice have attracted a worldwide following for its folk, World and African overtones. He has been nominated seven times at the South African Music awards, performed with the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra and shared stages across the world with the likes of Ben Harper, Bonnie Rait and Taj Mahal, Kelly Joe Phelps and Crosby, Stills and Nash. In 2012, Nibs recorded the critically acclaimed, “In the shade of the wild fig”, with long time friend and collaborator, Guy Buttery.
