South African Freedom Day events in Australia and New Zealand

The DA Abroad will be hosting four events this coming weekend in celebration of South Africa’s Freedom Day.

The events will be held across Australia and New Zealand in the following cities: Christchurch, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth.

South Africa celebrates Freedom Day each year on 27th April, marking the anniversary of the day in 1994 when the country of our birth held its first ever all-race, democratic election, ending apartheid.

While many South Africans may be living abroad and far from home, on this significant day, let’s gather to toast to our country’s democracy and enjoy the company of fellow South Africans.

These events are a chance to meet the DA Abroad team, make some new friends, enjoy some great conversation and find out more about the DA Abroad. These will be social events, but will also give us an opportunity to remember how far our country has come since 1994 and how important our democracy is.
