One-man SA folk band Jeremy Loops returns to Half Moon Putney

South Africa’s Jeremy Loops creates his finely woven tapestry of sounds using his guitar, ukelele, harmonica and beatbox skills. As his name may suggest, he then runs this through loop pedals, echo and distortion units layering tunes like a one man band. Catch him in London on 22 October.

JemOne of South Africa’s top music acts, Jeremy Loops, returns to the Half Moon Putney on Tuesday 22 October, following a string of UK performances in Summer 2013.

Cape Town-based Jeremy Loops is a modern day one man folk band. Born out of necessity whilst working on yachts around the world, Jeremy discovered that there’s no-one better to work with than yourself.

Jeremy creates his finely woven tapestry of sounds using his guitar, ukelele, harmonica and beatbox skills. As his name may suggest, he then runs this through loop pedals, echo and distortion units layering tunes like a one man band.

“I enjoy all genres of music, but my first love is folk. Frequently, brilliant collaborators join me on stage to take my sound to the next level,” explains Jeremy.

Interactivity and crowd participation are key to the creation of his multi-layered structure of beats and rhythms. Having built his career from an early stage with rapper Motheo Moleko, the two exude a perfectly ordered mish-mash of folk, hip-hop, bluegrass funk and blues. Together they bring a unique and positive sound to new-school folk music.

This year already Jeremy Loops has performed in Los Angeles, New York, Prague, London, The Great Escape in Brighton and the Secret Garden Party.

Not simply content with growing his own musical career, Jeremy is also quite literally growing South Africa, heading up the agricultural revolution that is GreenPop — an initiative spearheading the conscious push to plant more trees and reduce carbon emissions, among other projects.
