The London Short Film Fest will be screening films by two South African filmmakers this week: Roger Ballen and Saskia Vredeveld.

A veteran filmmaker and photographer in SA, Ballen directed the music video for Die Antwoord’s “I Fink You Freeky” in 2012 . He also published a book that features behind-the-scenes photographs from the making of the video with Random House in 2013. Vredeveld’s work focuses on race and class in South African, and is perhaps best known for her documentary entitled White Poverty (in the New South Africa).

Ballen and Vredeveld collaborated on a short film, The Asylum, which featured at the 2014 London Film Fest as part of a series titled “Life, But is it A Dream?”

The following films will be screened at the exhibition

The Asylum (2012)
I Fink You Freeky  (2012)
Memento Mori (2005)
Self Portrait (2001)

After the screening, the Fest will screen a selection of music videos by Die Antwoord, and DJ Bear Nang will perform a set.
