Little Mowgli of Africa

Little Mowgli of Africa

Every child wants to become Mowgli and live in The Jungle Book with friends like Baloo and Bagheera, and one little girl lived that very dream.

Little Mowgli of Africa

IMAGINE a life of absolute freedom. Imagine running wild and free, where people are foreign and animals are your only true friends.

French wildling Tippi Degre didn’t have to imagine, she was born and raised until the age of ten totally in the wild.

Born in Namibia to French wildlife photographers Sylvie Robert and Alain Degre, Tippi was raised on the plains of Africa, befriending all the creatures around her.

How often do you hear of a young girl riding a 5 ton elephant (who she refers to as “my brother”), chilling with a cheetah, hugging a giant bullfrog or standing on a crocodile.

Tippi is no 23-years old, and has not completely outgrown her wild side, but says she wants to live a normal life now that she is older.

When she was a little girl her friends were lion cubs, a mongoose, a snake, a baby zebra, giraffes and crocodiles among other wild animals.

She explained in an interview many years ago: “I don’t have friends here. Because I never see children. So the animals are my friends”.

Her photographer parents have created a book that gives readers true insight into Tippi’s magical journey in the wild.
