jeremy Loops 5Capetonian folk musician Jeremy Loops (29) will be returning to London this spring to perform at Half Moon Putney on Monday 5 May and Camden Barfly on Tuesday 6 May.

Winner of the 2013 MK Male Solo Artist of the Year award, his career has been built on a strong live act, supported by rapper Motheo Moleko and multi-instrumentalist James Faull. Their strong live performance has been validated with a nomination for Best Live Act at the 2013 and 2014 MK Awards, as well as repeat invitations to Southern Africa’s major music festivals, namely Rocking The Daisies, Oppikoppi, Splashy Fen, Bushfire, Up The Creek and more.

Jeremy’s music is steeped in folk, with traces of hip hop, Balkan, jazz, rock, and house influences sprinkled liberally. Early commercial successes include the songs ‘Mission To The Sun’ and ‘Power’, both of which were playlisted on major South African radio stations, even though he has no album out.

In 2013, after two years spent playing no fewer than 100 shows, his reputation, output, and performances caught the attention of international taste-makers, resulting in invitations to attend and perform at the prestigious Musexpo Conference in LA, MaMa Event in Paris, as well as The Great Escape Festival and The Secret Garden Party in the UK. In 2014, he’s been invited to perform at Canadian Music Week, a launch pad for a major North American tour in May and June, with a European and Australasian tour tentatively scheduled for later in the year.

The North American tour is in support of the release of his long awaited debut album, Trading Change, scheduled for release at the end of the first quarter of 2014. The album was recorded predominantly in London at Miloco Studios’ The Bridge premises, home to acts like Coldplay, Florence and the Machine, and the Temper Trap.

The album, distributed by Sheer Sound in South Africa and Yebo Music worldwide, was launched in South Africa on 6 April at his headlining Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concert.
