Immigrating to the US: Is the EB-5 Investor Programme coming to an end?

(Partner Content) South African citizens looking for a quick and easy way to relocate to the US can do so with the EB-5 investor-based programme. But hurry, as it may come to an end at the end of June.

Many South Africans have made their dream to immigrate to the US a reality with the EB-5 investor programme.

By definition, individuals seeking citizenship in the US may qualify for EB-5 classification by investing in a new commercial initiative that will either directly or indirectly create full-time job opportunities for at least ten employees.

Investors also have the opportunity to invest in an enterprise experiencing a net loss for a period of 12 months or 24 months before the priority date of the immigrant investor.

EB-5 Investor Programme: An investment that pays off

By investing at least R26.4 million or R13.2 million for a Targeted Employment Area, investors get a Green Card which can eventually result in naturalised US citizenship. The best part is that your capital is secured in an active investment in the US and you will receive your funds back at the end of the project.

Furthermore, the EB-5 Investor programme makes it possible for your family to start a life and build a business anywhere in the US. After five years of staying in the US, your family has the right to become US citizens.

Is the EB-5 investor programme coming to an end?

This quick and relatively easy way of immigrating to the US was enacted in 1992 and thereafter, regularly renewed. If Congress does not renew the EB-5 investor programme, it will come to an end by 30 June 2021. However, it may be renewed this year as it was in the past.
