Applying for a visa or Green C

We spoke to the emigration experts at the Law Offices of Grant Kaplan to find out more about emigrating to the US amidst the current political climate. This is what they said.

We are certainly living in ‘interesting times’ presently in the USA, in the current ‘build the wall’ and ‘hire American, buy American’ environment.

If you are currently filing or wish to file for a visa or Green Card for the USA in these times (more than ever), you would be well advised to utilise the services of a knowledgeable US immigration attorney.

Under the current government shutdown, the immigration courts are closed (except for detained cases), and some visa categories (like the EB-5 investor visas) are not being processed. Everyone should proceed with all possible haste to prepare and file ASAP whatever petitions may be available to you.

There is no question that White House policy has filtered down to the adjudicators of petitions and the Customs and Border officials.

Although the regulations per se have not changed, the adjudication of petitions is becoming much stricter, and there is an increasing tendency to issue Requests for Further Evidence in many cases. This has resulted in a much bigger workload and more substantial petitions having to be filed.

At the Law Offices of Grant Kaplan, we maintain a proud record of success (and have done so for the last 20 years). Our team is geared to deal with the current onerous environment, even though the workload has (in many cases) doubled for each filing.

Please feel free to call us or email us anytime to discuss your options. We look forward to hearing from you.
