(Partner Content) Earlier this year, Breytenbachs announced to readers that the UK Home Office is planning to introduce a Student Graduate Visa route for overseas students in the UK. Benefits of the Graduate Immigration route

The new Graduate Immigration route will allow overseas students who have finished their UK studies to stay in the UK to work or look for work for two years. In these two years, the graduate students should find positions that will allow them to apply for more permanent immigration categories.

The new route is a wonderful incentive for prospective overseas students, as they now know that they will have the option to stay in the UK after their studies to secure a career.

Other advantages include the following;

  • You do not need a job offer to apply for the route;
  • There is no funds requirement;
  • No English language requirement; and
  • There is work flexibility, and you can switch jobs and develop your career as you see fit.

 When can you apply for the Graduate Immigration Route?

Students can apply once the university sends you your final course results. One cannot apply before receiving your final course results. However, you do not have to wait until you graduate to apply.

Applicants have to be in the UK when they apply, and the Home Office will not accept applications from outside the UK.

The Home Office also warn that applicants should not leave the UK or Common Travel Area while waiting for a decision on the application.
