Lawrence Maleka writes heartfelt message to fans- ‘I love you all’

Actor Lawrence Maleka who played Zolani Dlamini in the Mzansi Magic telenovela, The river expressed his gratitude to his fans.

Multi-award-winning actor-presenter Lawrence Maleka, who exited telenovela, The River as Zolani this season has written a heartfelt message to his fans.

Lawrence’s character was killed off the show on Friday, 3 February.

The actor took to Instagram to thank his fans for their support throughout his character’s time on the telenovela.

“To the fans, those who gave me confidence to stick with it, those who encouraged my perfect blend of self delusion and ego to think I can succeed where others have failed, those who vote, like, retweet and pray for me, I thank you.

“With this character many of you saw people you know, loved ones, siblings and friends, fond and painful memories; you celebrate me because I am of you. I love you all,” wrote Lawrence in an Instagram post.

REFLECTION ON ZOLANI’S CHARACTER

Lawrence began working on the telenovela in 2018.

In conversation with Drum, he reflected on his role as Zolani.

He stated that his favorite scenes were those that took place behind the scenes.

“Unfortunately, [my favourite moments on The River] are everything we’ve done off-screen. There are moments that I wish sometimes we could capture for people. If you think those people are crazy, you should see them off-screen,” the report quoted Lawrence as saying.

‘MAGICAL TIME’ WITH SINDI DLATHU

The actor also used the opportunity to reflect on his time working with Sindi Dlathu, who plays Lindiwe.

“After getting to know each other for a few days while shooting the first scenes of the telenovela, Sindi rested her head on his shoulder. As ecstatic as the moment was, it became the beginning of the greatest bond between the two, on and off the screen. Ever since then, she’s always been there. We’ve discussed scripts, we’ve discussed everything,” said Lawrence as quoted by the report.
