Why not decide to book a trip to the music, joy and freedom of a Great British music festival. Here are a couple of good ones.

WOMAD

This unusual festival is made for people who have a deep love of music. Music of all forms from all around the globe. What could be better than seeing artists from all over the world come together and perform over one glorious weekend of music, arts and culture?

Perhaps getting the chance to meet these artists and get extra special insight into their skills and talent, which WOMAD does in abundance with their wonderfully curated Workshop Programme, offering festival-goers the unique opportunity to get up close and personal with the artists they’ve seen on stage and learn the tricks of the trade.

Whether it’s learning a new instrument, trying a new singing technique, or getting your dancing shoes on, there’s certainly something for everyone to experience. Super chilled, great food and literally something for everyone – we love this festival.

Boomtown

Boomtown is unique in that there is an entire fantasy village created on an isolated estate. The music tends towards roots, beats and old school soul. (Think Ms Lauryn Hill, Prophets Of Rage, The Streets, Chase & Status, Groove Armada, Salt-N-Pepa, Carl Cox, to name a few.)

Visually, one of the most inspiring spectacles of the summer, the eye-catching extravaganza that is Boomtown Fair celebrates every musical genre. From ska, folk, gypsy, reggae, punk and disco to electro-swing, jazz, bluegrass, bass, jungle and techno, all are enjoyed in a spirit of unity and freedom.

The spectacular pop-up town is split up into multiple districts, with a huge variety of performers and DJs playing across 100 stages. In addition to the music, there are also arts and crafts workshops, flash-mobbing actors, spoken-word performances and all kinds of weird and wonderful activities to be found in Boomtown’s many nooks and crannies.

Make sure you don’t miss next year:

Green Man

Tickets for Green Man 2019 sold out this year in record time. Those looking for the full Green Man experience purchased the Settler’s Pass, which turns the festival into a week-long holiday, allowing early access to the site from Monday 12th August, and including workshops, music, discounts on local heritage sites, galleries, castles and more.

The magic of Green Man lies not just in its scenery and music. Made up of 10 individual areas, the festival also offers a diverse range of events to accompany its incredible line-up, boasting art installations spread throughout the tranquil valley, a beer and cider tent to enjoy a crisp Welsh pint, an outer-spaced themed area of discovery and exploration for the ‘little folk’ and a relaxation and workshop space for the teenagers. As well as a line up of science, film, comedy & literature.
