KFC has officially turned 50 years old and in celebration it is temporarily introducing some interesting new dishes to their menu…one of which is the KFC

The fast-food outlet is also celebrating the milestone with a new pop-up store called “Kentucky Town” at the Rosebank Bank in Johannesburg

And in addition to serving chicken, KFC also invited a few famous faces to their birthday party…

KFC TURNS 50: CELEBS COME TO KENTUCKY TOWN

The launch of Kentucky Town saw a number of celebrities descend on its premises, including the host of the launch, Anele Mdoda, who stunned in a red cocktail dress.

Other stars like Mohale Motaung, Randall Abrahams and Graeme Richards stopped by to check out the scene. And artists Zakes Bantwini and Mafikizolo – who both released new music – performed for the hungry crowds.

To celebrate it’s “golden” birthday, KFC teased an exciting at it’s Kentucky Town pop-up which runs from 25 November to 5 December 2021

For starters the company would be selling official merchandise in the form of funky T-shirts, hoodies, shorts and bucket hats.

But what stood out the most was the introduction of new menu items. They included crispy chicken skins, a “Streetwise Chow” and * drumroll * a Zinger burger with glazed doughnuts substituted for rolls.

The latter seems to be a big talking point on social media. The jury was out on if the new dish was a winner or not, although many found the taste combination to be “weird”.

Some of the comments read:

“Doughnut zinger burger? WTF? You’re so weird.”

“A piece of spicy chicken between two donuts is a crime against humanity”

“Hayini who asked for this?”

“What an abomination of a burger!”
