It’s Easter weekend and we realise that some of our readers are understandably bummed about being stuck indoors. But fear not, YouTube announced a spectacular lineup for the Stay Home #WithMe festival to keep you entertained.
Remember that self-solating and staying home isn’t just about keeping yourself safe; it’s about saving others as well. This is the only way to flatten the curve.
The Stay Home #WithMe festival takes place on Saturday 11 April and Sunday 12 April. It will bring Africa’s hottest talent right into your living room, or to your laptop, so to speak.
According to YouTube, the performers “will be hanging out with you” and you get to stay home with your “favourite stars while they sing your favourite songs from their albums”.
The initiative kicked off two weeks ago in response to South Africa and Nigeria’s strict lockdown regulations which prohibits all non-essential workers from leaving their homes.
It’s been a tough week on the continent with the current state of affairs, so music lovers will now be able to sit back and enjoy uplifting performances from their favourite artists, without having to leave the house.
Addy Awofisayo, content partnership manager for YouTube Africa, says that it’s important to adhere to social distancing protocols, and adds:
“Stay Home #WithMe is a way of encouraging social distancing at this time while bringing everyone together around music, artists and content creators they love”.
In addition to catching performances by gospel artists, music lovers can also tune in to LIVE performances by their favourite Hip Hop and Pop artists.
The schedule can be found below. Today’s lineup includes South Africa’s Jethro Tait at 18:00 South African Standard Time (SAST) – that’s 17:00 West African Time (WAT) – and Nasty C at 20:00 SAST (19:00 WAT).
Links to all the upcoming shows will be released here a few hours before the event is set to kick off.
