Hout bay race row blows up after resident calls black people “stupid animals”

Vanessa Hartley has become SA’s newest Penny Sparrow, following posts to her Facebook page saying black people are “stupid animals” that flock to Hout Bay, also saying “We should tie them to a rope. “Soon there will be nothing left of Hout Bay.”

She later posted to her page that she never said those things, but that a drunk at the bar she was drinking at got hold of her phone and posted the rant.

“I would like to apologise for comments that were made on Facebook via my phone as my phone was at the bar … and someone thought they were very funny but now they upset me and a lot of people.”

Folks on social media, however, were having none of it, and the ANC, as well as the Hout Bay Civic Association are planning on laying charges.

Twitter, as usual, had a few choice words for Hartley:
