There are tons and tons of female products that sell women dreams of a cleaner and fresher vagina but most it isn’t necessary. According to Dr Shirin Lakhani, founder of Elite Aesthetics in London, vulvas are a self-cleaning machine and don’t need all the extra help from products that sometimes lead to skin irritation and other allergies.

Your vulva doesn’t need all those pricey products, say experts

Who doesn’t love a vagina that smells like baby powder?

While it may seem pleasant or appealing, the products used to achieve the smell aren’t always good for your vagina – at least that’s what experts are saying.

According to Dr Shirin Lakhani, in a Daily Mail article, your vulva naturally cleans itself.

This means using all of those expensive products are not only unnecessary but also wasteful.

According to Dr Shirin, vaginas don’t even need products to assist the cleaning process – in fact, often using scented products or douching can lead to a hormonal imbalance.

Once there is an imbalance, infections may follow which are not only uncomfortable but will definitely affect your sex life.

Avoid douching and other feminine hygiene products – particularly scented ones.

Don’t be afraid to go see a professional. According to Dr Shirin, women shouldn’t be embarrassed to seek out professional advice when it comes to matters of the vulva.

Pay attention to allergies. If you feel an itch or have unusual discharge, you’re probably experiencing an allergic reaction to a product and need to stop using it.

Say goodbye to ingrown hair by completely stopping any hair removal procedures in the area.

“The best thing to do is stop removing the hair in that area until the ingrown hair goes away,” she says.
