From resistance bands to help practise push ups to hacks for bulgarian split squats, here are three TikTok hacks to use at the gym under #GymTok.

1. USE A RESISTANCE BAND TO PRACTISE PUSH UPS 

US-based personal trainer Kara Lennon suggests using a resistance band to perform a push up from her toes. Lennon places a resistance band around her upper arms before doing push ups from her toes. 

So, the hack works because the resistance from the band provides assistance to the chest and core. This helps her push upwards against gravity easily. Take a look…

2. TIKTOK SITTING TRICK: BULGARIAN SPLIT SQUATS

Bulgarian squats are quite a complex single exercise if done correctly. The aim is to strengthen your quads, fire up your hamstrings, and help to grow your glutes. Personal trainer Kayla Itsines has shared a three step hack to guide you. So, what are these steps?

  • 1. Back leg on chair first
  • 2. Extend front leg 
  • 3. Stand and squat

3. USE A SMALL WEIGHT PLATE TO STRIP YOUR BARBELL 

Struggling to remove stubborn plates from a barbell can be frustrating during a workout but TikTok user Kim French has a solution. You could use a smaller 2.5kg plate as a makeshift jack to help get the weights off the floor. 

All you need to do is place the small plate on the ground and roll the biggest plates over with. Once the barbell is elevated you can slide each plate off without any resistance. So, once you’ve gone one side done, the other is super easy.
