When it comes to children, the rules of essential oils change — a more careful approach is needed. Why is this so?

Children’s bodies are still developing and this makes them more sensitive to essential oils. Using the same dilution ratios for them as for adults, can overwhelm their system and cause harm. Also, not all essential oils are appropriate for children.

If your child has been diagnosed with ADHD, there are some essential oil blends that can help.

Essential oils are unfortunately not instant magic, but they have been proven very helpful in reducing anxiety in children who are hyperactive. They can also help children who struggle to focus.

Previously we explained that the molecules of essential oils are very small. So small that they can penetrate right through the skin into the tissue and get absorbed into the bloodstream.

When the essential oils have been absorbed into the bloodstream, they circulate through the brain and pass the blood brain barrier. When the essential oil molecules have passed the blood brain barrier, they deliver a concentrated amount of anti-oxidants to the brain which increase blood flow, which in turn increases oxygen to the brain. This helps the child calm down and focus on the task at hand.

Vetiver essential oil has been proven to work 100% on the brain and is very safe for children to use.
