Season 18 winner of Idols SA Thapelo Molomo is now the official lead vocalist of the Spirit of Praise gospel group. According to Times LIVE, the group introduced new members on Saturday at their live recording at the SunBet Arena in Menlyn, Pretoria. Among those members were Thapelo and Mmatema Moremi, his fellow Idols SA star

Thapelo shared the good news with his followers on his social media pages. The star also posted it on his Instagram stories, which included clips from the live recording. Talking to TimesLIVE he said, “I did a collaboration with Spirit of Praise this past weekend May 27. I’m a new family member of SOP and yes, the fans can expect so many things from me with the family. I was there as a backing vocalist before, it’s just now I come as a lead vocalist”.

After being crowned the winner of Idols, Thapelo released a four track EP, which is a mixture of genres. Thapelo told ThisaLIVE that the EP is a mixture of afro-pop, and amapiano sounds. The star is now working on new music for his fans. “Fans can expect so much music from me, I’m in the studio now working on my projects” Thapelo told TimesLIVE.

‘What will I be doing during the week?’ Thapelo Molomo’s side hustle

Earlier this year the star made headlines as he started his side hustle of selling eggs and atchaar. While his singing career was blooming, the star did not neglect his duties as a warrant officer as he juggled both jobs. The star has refused to quit his job as an officer saying “I will proceed with my work, I will multi- task. I have always been multitasking anyway, so there is nothing new really, even though the audience is now big, but I feel it will be possible because musicians mostly work during the weekends, so what will I be doing during the week? I must generate an income. I will continue with my work” he said in an interview with East Coast Radio.
