On Tuesday, HBO finally released the much anticipated trailer of Game of Thrones season 8. The last running of George R. R. Martin’s series is expected to break some records, while making history in other parts, and we are here for it.

Even more interesting about what we saw in the official trailer were the hidden clues that suggested how things would unravel in the six-episode finale.

Why was Arya Stark afraid in the trailer?

The trailer opens up with a close-up shot of Arya Stark (played by Maisie Williams) seemingly looking afraid and drenched in sweat. She is then seen running away from something, while a voice over of her says,

“I know death. He’s got many faces. I look forward to seeing this one.”

This, according to Talking Thrones, has to be an indication of the Night King’s arrival at Winterfell with his army of White Walkers.

The fear set in her eyes as she, Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington) and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) appear to be escaping from the secret underground tunnels of Winterfell, suggests that the Night King will most likely win the first battle.

So, anywhere from episode three, expect Arya, Jon and Sansa to flee from their ancestral home and away from the Night King.

Why did Davos and Varys appear shaken?

In the trailer, we also saw Davos Seaworth (Liam Cunningham), a former servant of the late Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane), pacing about, seemingly awaiting some form of danger.

The same could be said about Lord Varys (Conleth Hill), who was hiding underneath the grounds of Winterfell. This furthers the belief that the first battle between the White Walkers and the Starks will not bode well.

Where is the Golden Company headed?

You might recall that in season seven, Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), the widow of King Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy) and Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, struck a deal to have 20 000 mercenaries from Essos sent to King’s Landing.

From the looks of the trailer, it appears that Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbaek) will hold true to his word. The Golden Company is one of the largest and most skilled sellsword companies in the Free Cities.

Cersei will rely on the force of The Golden Company to bide her time for as long as the House of Lannister can stand up against Daenerys Targaryen’s (Emma Clarke) forces.

What Cersei has failed to understand, however, is that there is a bigger threat approaching.

What did Bran Stark reveal to Jon Snow?

“Everything you did brought you to where you are now. Where you belong.”

This is what we hear Bran Stark say to Samwell Tarly (John Bradley), who turns to look at someone.

This could be a reference to Jon Snow. We know that Game of Thrones harbours a massive secret and it all has to do with who the rightful heir to the Iron Throne is.

This is most likely the part where Jon will find out who he truly is — the lost son of Rhaegar Targaryen, the last true king of the Seven Kingdoms.

What happens to Jon and Daenerys’ relationship?

This could be an explosive part of the series we all want to know about. One of the scenes in the trailer shows Daenerys approaching a seemingly detached Jon.

Most probably, he is in deep thought, trying to understand what Bran has revealed to him. But, what is it that Jon isn’t privy to as yet?

It is already going to be a highly emotional conversation between the two, considering the fact that they may be siblings in love. However, Daenerys may be carrying Jon’s child. Never mind the question that lingers: Who will get to sit on the Iron Throne?
