Tokara welcomes visitors with exquisite wines, unforgettable eateries, contemporary art and a unique olive oil experience, making the wine estate a microcosm of Stellenbosch at its very best.

A little history

When GT and Anne-Marie Ferreira purchased the farm in Stellenbosch in 1994, all they had in mind was to build a lovely home for their family.

The realisation that Tokara has some of the best soils for growing wine grapes in the region, however, soon sealed their fate.

The next five years saw the complete transformation of the farm into one of the most breath-taking wineries in the Cape with the single-minded vision of establishing Tokara as a producer of memorable world-class wines.

Cabernet Sauvignon has been an important focus since the first harvest in 2 000 with incredible wines produced from this cornerstone variety.

Their interpretation of Cabernet Sauvignon is epitomised by two singular expressions, the pinnacle cuvée, Telos, and a flagship blend.

Together these wines represent a true reflection of everything the estate represents: refinement, elegance and balance.

Telos is particularly sought after by wine collectors and is considered a South African icon by respected international wine commentators, Tim Atkin and Neal Martin.

Sauvignon Blanc is another Tokara core variety.

Grapes are sourced from high lying vineyards in Stellenbosch as well as Tokara’s prized property in Elgin, an area widely known for producing some of the country’s best cool climate Sauvignon Blancs. These wines are in perfect balance with fresh acidity and purity of fruit.

Bordeaux varieties are the focus of the Director’s Reserve Red and White blends which together exemplify the best of the vintage. The Tokara Reserve Collection showcases the unique attributes of terroir-specific, single vineyards wines including Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinotage and Syrah.
