Everybody loves a hearty stew and South Africans also have local favourites. Usually made with mutton or lamb, tamatie bredie as it’s known in Afrikaans, is a tomato based stew with tender meat and vegetables. There are many types of bredie recipes and one even has flowers in it.
As with many stews, this recipe below is slow cooked or if you have a pressure cooker, will be ready in half the time with the same results. it also provides you with options for using different meats like beef, ribs, mutton and lamb.
