Start your braai with something traditional and fun. If the food is going to take a while, make these skilpadjies. They’re livers like you’ve never had before.

South African Skilpadjies

When hosting a braai, it might take a while to get eating because the festivities are going strong. However, there’s always time for a snack and skilpadjies or liver in caul fat is a local classic. The livers are rolled up in lamb or ox caul fat and they end up looking like mini tortoises.

The recipe below combines different liver types of which lamb and ox is the most popular and then put onto the braai. They are beautifully tender and packed with flavour. The recipe below has you covered!
