Days are cooling down and it’s time for some more stews for the whole family. Stews are also great when you want to cook for an extra day or two. This pumpkin bredie or pumpkin stew is healthy, packed with flavour and great when you don’t want to do too many dishes. It’s real Cape Malay cooking!

You can use any kind of meat in this recipe from beef knuckles and chuck to lamb and mutton which are the most popular options. Every element is given some time to develop flavour and when made a day ahead, is even tastier as the flavours settle and get to know each other.
