This delicious recipe smothers the chicken livers in an appetising peri-peri sauce. This sauce compliments the chicken livers excellently and is even better when soaked up with crusty bread.

The best part is that you can prepare this easy peri-peri chicken livers recipe in almost no time. This leaves you with plenty of time to prepare the remaining dishes of your three-course meal.

This recipe includes three to four tablespoons of peri-peri sauce. If you love your food really hot, you may want to increase this. On the flip side, you can also decrease the quantity of peri-peri sauce if you like a milder version of this dish.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons 2 butter

  • 500 g 500 chicken livers cleaned and trimmed

  • 3 cloves 3 garlic, crushed

  • 3-4 tablespoons 3-4 peri-peri sauce

  • juice of 1 lemon

  • ½ cup ½ cream

  • salt and pepper to taste

  • chopped parsley to serve

  • crusty bread to serve

Method

  • In a very hot skillet/frying pan, melt the butter and fry the chicken livers until golden brown on both sides.
  • Add the garlic and peri-peri sauce and allow to fry for another minute until fragrant then add the lemon juice and cream.
  • Season with salt and pepper and allow to simmer for 5 – 7 minutes.
  • Serve with crusty bread.
