KFC secret recipe – Tastes just like the original

Anyone for a crispy piece of KFC chicken? When you taste these fried chicken pieces, you will have to agree with us that we have finally cracked the KFC secret recipe. It is crunchy on the outside with the spices in perfect balance. And biting into the succulent juicy chicken results in an explosion of flavour in your mouth. Yes, it is the ultimate chicken bite.

This is probably not the only KFC secret recipe out there but this one taste just like the original. A great tip when frying the chicken is to ensure that you do not overcrowd the skillet. Fry the chicken in batches and turn the chicken when it is gold in colour. When the chicken has a lovely golden colour all over, it is perfectly cooked with a crispy crust on the outside and juicy chicken on the inside.

Serve with a freshly prepared salad and mashed potatoes.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole 1 chicken, cut into pieces

  • 3 3 eggs, beaten

  • 4 tablespoons 4 oil

  • Coating
  • 2 cups 2 flour

  • 4 teaspoons 4 paprika

  • 1 teaspoon 1 salt

  • 1 teaspoon 1 pepper

  • 1 teaspoon 1 poultry seasoning (or chicken stock powder)

  • 1 teaspoon 1 dried oregano

  • 1 teaspoon 1 tarragon

  • 1 teaspoon 1 dried parsley

  • ½ teaspoon ½ dried thyme

  • 1 teaspoon 1 chives

  • ½ teaspoon ½ garlic powder

  • ½ teaspoon ½ onion powder

  • ½ teaspoon ½ celery salt

Method

  • Sift the flour and add together all the coating ingredients and grind finely and place in a clean plastic bag.
  • Coat each chicken piece first with the beaten egg, then with the flour mixture in the bag. Make sure you coat each piece completely with the flour.
  • Heat the oil in a skillet.
  • Brown the chicken in oil slowly, uncovered.
  • Once browned, cover the skillet and keeping frying on a very gentle heat until the chicken is fully cooked.
  • Place on paper towels to drain out the excess oil.
