Making your own dessert can be a lot more fun than you think. You can come up with all kinds of flavours and additions to create your own unique dessert and it’s so easy with ice cream. However, you might be thinking that making your ice cream takes hard work and specialized equipment but it’s not the case here. This Amarula liqueur ice cream is a simple homemade dessert which you can play around with and almost never have the same result, making it perfect for parties or just a snack at home.

Amarula liqueur ice cream tips

The ice cream is easy to put together with just a few ingredients but you can start adding your own ingredients. Crumbled cookies, chunks of brownies, salty caramel sauce or good ol’ vanilla are just a few ideas you can use for making ice cream. Top your ice cream with an assortment of berries and nuts for decoration, flavour as well as texture. The hardest part about this recipe is that it’s tough to wait before digging in while it freezes.

Amarula liqueur ice cream recipe

Make your own delicious ice cream in less than 30 minutes!


  • ½ tin condensed milk

  • 125 ml Amarula cream liqueur 

  • 500 ml fresh cream

  • 100 g chopped nuts of your choice (optional)


  • Cool the condensed milk, Amarula cream liqueur and fresh cream before making the ice cream.
  • Using an electric mixer, for at least 15 minutes, beat the condensed milk until it has a creamy consistency.
  • Add the Amarula cream liqueur and mix well into the condensed milk on high setting for a few seconds.
  • Slowly add the cream. Watch carefully while mixing until the cream has thickened.
  • Immediately pour in a freezer container and sprinkle with nuts. Freeze overnight.


  • Remove the ice cream from the freezer about 15 minutes before serving.
