The great thing about being a South African is that we still enjoy ice cream during winter. We love it even more when it’s got some booze in it. Amarula is a proudly South African cream liqueur enjoyed on its own or with some crushed ice. Our homemade Amarula ice cream pays tribute to our magnificent wildlife on the label and our love of all things sweet and local. Enjoy this nutty, sweet treat with your family on those days when the weather warms up a bit.

Homemade Amarula ice cream

You’ll want a food processor or smoothie maker to combine all of the cooled ingredients. You’ll only need Amarula cream liqueur, an assortment of nuts, condensed milk and cream. You can add a few crushed nuts into the mixture and keep some to top the ice cream. You can even use some fruits if you want to. This recipe is great for those weekends when you invite your friends over on a sunny day. The crunch from the nuts and the familiar Amarula taste pair very well together.
