The braai season is in full swing in South Africa as the days get warmer really quickly. It is the time everyone wants to be outside all day. If you have a WEBER braai at home, your house is most likely the popular hangout place for your family and friends.

Make the most of our sun-kissed summer days by preparing a great meal on your WEBER Braai. Try these grilled ginger-soy lamb chops. They are marinaded and basted to perfection. Add a bit of braai smoke and char, and you’ll have the best feast ever.

Grilled ginger-soy lamb chops tips

This recipe is so easy. You literally only need seven ingredients and a hot WEBER grill. And everything comes together in a snap. You can make the marinade while the WEBER braai is pre-heating. The lamb only takes about 5 minutes to cook. It’s great for a casual weekday dinner. However, your friends and family will be impressed if you serve this at a weekend braai.

Ingredients

  • 8 8 lamb chops

  • 3 tbsp 3 soy sauce

  • 3 tbsp 3 extra-virgin olive oil

  • 1 tbsp 1 brown sugar

  • 2 tbsp 2 fresh ginger, peeled and minced

  • 1 clove 1 garlic, peeled and minced

  • 1 tbsp 1 fresh parsley, roughly chopped

Method

  • Remove the lamb chops from your refrigerator and leave them at room temperature for several minutes to take some of the chill off. Trim and discard any excess fat from the meat. Pre-heat your braai to high.
  • While your WEBER braai is pre-heating, make the marinade. In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, olive oil, brown sugar, ginger and garlic. Mix well. Then remove two tablespoons of the marinade to a clean bowl and set it aside for later.
  • Lightly oil your grill racks. Place the lamb chops on the grill and cook for 2 minutes. Then flip the lamb chops and baste them generously with the marinade. Word of caution: your grill will flare up while you do this. Work CAREFULLY.
  • Cook the lamb chops for 2 minutes on the second side. Then flip again and baste them generously a second time. Continue cooking until they are done, just about 1 minute more. Remove from the grill and transfer to a serving platter. Garnish with chopped parsley.
  • Serve immediately with some of the reserved marinade.
